Job Brief
We are looking for an emotionally intelligent and competent social worker who will assist individuals, groups and communities to adopt healthy behaviors. S/he will conduct outreach for medical personnel or health organizations to implement programs in schools or communities that promote, maintain, and improve individual and community health. S/he will provide information on available resources, provide social support and informal counseling, advocate for individuals, groups and community health needs, and provide services such as first aid and blood pressure screening. S/he will carryout needs assessment and collect data to help identify community health needs.
Responsibility
- Interpret, translate or provide cultural mediation related to health services or information for community members.
- Administer immunizations or other basic preventive treatments.
- Advise school groups or community groups on issues related to diagnostic screenings, such as breast cancer screening, pap smears, glaucoma tests, or diabetes screenings.
- Perform basic diagnostic procedures, such as blood pressure screening, breast cancer screening, or communicable disease screening.
- Advise school groups or community groups on issues related to improving general health, such as diet or exercise.
- Advise school groups or community groups on issues related to risk or prevention of conditions such as lead poisoning, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), prenatal substance abuse, or domestic violence.
- Advise school groups or community groups on issues related to self-care, such as diabetes management, malaria prevention.
- Collate and report data as required and requested by the management, and maintain accurate records and report.
- Teach classes or otherwise disseminate medical or dental health information to school groups, community groups, or targeted families or individuals, in a manner consistent with cultural norms.
- Teach and provide basic health services, such as first aid.
- Advocate on gender-based violence.
- Ensure that all data are well maintained in an appropriate storage facility, and well protected with restricted access always.
- Ensure that absolute confidentiality of information is maintained always and, in all processes.
- Act as a key-worker and cooperate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the management.

Minimum Qualification
HND or BSC in Social works or any relevant field.
Job Requirements
- Documentation and report writing ability.
- Knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, outlook and Excel; SPSS and other statistical softwares.
- p interpersonal and relationship-building skills and ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills with attention to detail and quality.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project’s zones at short notice or when required.
- Fluency in English (spoken, read and written), Efik and Pidgin desirable.
- Proven work experience as a social worker.
- Working knowledge of social theories and practices.
- Social perceptiveness and empathy.
- Ability to build and maintain professional helping relationships.
- Ability to relate and communicate with diverse population and groups.
- Resilience along with ability to assess situations.
- Willingness to submit to background checks.
- Demonstrated experience working in public campaigns and advocacy efforts.
- Good leadership, management and negotiation skills.
